Personally, I think we can ditch Platinum, Arakune and Bullet. I just don't find the characters or their move-sets that interesting. I think they would take the place of other more deserving characters. What does everyone else think?

Hmm, a curious concept worth pondering all in good fun, that is. If ASW doesn't feel lie carrying over all the character models they developed for Ultimax and CentralFiction, then that means the roster will likely be small.
If we're talking about superfluous characters, I'd like to also suggest Celica and one of the Murakumo units (Lambda or Nu) for the chopping block. For the former, I never was able to reconcile the idea that a complete pacifist with no fighting skill or combat experiences at all was given a moveset. For the latter, while I have a lot of love for their respective storylines, I'm afraid that mechanically they were never unique enough from one another to ever co-exist in the same game for me. Especially because revamped Lambda's new moves make her rather similar to Labrys, one of the central characters of the P4Arena games, so it's unlikely that Labrys would be rejected in favour of Lambda from a gameplay perspective.
Ultimately, I'm simply excited by whatever they cook up for this game. It's not as appealing to me as a GGxBB game would have been, but it looks like that won't be happening just yet, so I'll have to be satisfied with Ragna duking it out with Hyde and Yu instead. And any other guest characters they add to the game besides Ruby.
Hmmm...
I'm OK with Platinum, but I'm not really fond of Arakune and Bullet too.
I think only one of the Murakumo Units would make it into this game, and that would most likely be Nu... She's simply the most iconic one, in my opinion. Noel will probably be there, but in her normal form.
I can't really see Amane, Hibiki or Valkenhayn there as well...
No Arakune. We don't need more people complaining about the balance issues. And Arakune tended to fit the bill among other chars like Carl. Besides, I really don't see any purpose to bringing in the liquid Seithr in terms of story since he was just kinda there for purpose of Litchi's story (sorry to any Arakune fans). So there's really honestly no justification to bringing him in since he just desires the Azure. And I'm afraid if they gonna add in Persona and RWBY chars, there's very little reason to pit him against them. Platinum would probably have a reason since she's kinda with Litchi now and she also is kind of attached to the hip with Jubei. So if you add in either of them, you really just gotta throw her in as a freebie. That and she was created to satisfy the niche tastes of the mahou shoujo fans. And since that's streamlined into Japan's anime culture, good luck wishing for her not being added in. As for Bullet.... Sadly, even though she's one of the better female chars that I have a good impression of, compared to the likes of Celica or Litchi (ick), I kinda admit that she really has no place in terms of story, other than being part of a backlore for Tager... But her playstyle is actually pretty interesting and original, as far as this series is concerned.
Other nominations for the chopping blocks should be very lesser known chars such as Hibiki. He was added into the story and as a playable char pretty late. So he honestly didn't have time to establish his presence and fanbase like Jubei did, even though Jubei was added MUCH later. Hell, even Nine was mentioned from here and there as well, even gotten her own game dedicated to her for a bit (Lost Memories). So I really don't see any point in bringing him in other than for people who wants to play imaginary AoT/SnK's Military. And I still facepalm at that design concept...
And also what OmegaTaishu also suggested. No reason for Amane or Valkenhayn. Their roles even in this story was just appallingly small. And so is probably their fanbase that cares outside of their gameplay value. So there's honestly plenty of people to throw into the chopping block. But I can probably say with confidence that waifus are the least likely to end up on it, unless their roles were really small or trivial such as Bullet. So even though I really don't like having Celica around and her existence beyond being a plot device (which she honestly should've just stayed as), I wouldn't be surprised that they did indeed in fact added her in, just to cash in on those Celica waifu fans. Especially considering that they just recently revealed that almost half the roster are hidden behind a DLC paywall LOL. I blame this on Nintendo and their current Smash game for creating or reinforcing that kind of business model...
